Vine and talk on jQuery

I’ve gotten some great feedback since the release of vine last week. I’ve dedicated a lot of my time the past few days to vine so that I can iron out some of the major bugs quickly and add new features early on in the 2 week beta testing of vine. One of the bigger features is the ability to submit individual articles to Digg.com quickly and easily. Digg might have problems with certain feed URLs, but hopefully I’ll be able to fix that in no time. I also plan to support other social media sites, such as FaceBook and Reddit. So keep a close eye on vine for those updates.

In other news, I will be giving a short 15 minute talk on implementing the jQuery JavaScript Library. Though it’s nothing big since it’s just at the SWAP club at AICSF, I’m still excited to let people know about jQuery and how well it works. I’ll have my slides up for viewing the day after (next week Wednesday.) So wish me luck!

Introducing vine

It’s been a while since I’ve done any major upgrade to one of my biggest projects, feedProcess. Which is why I’m happy to announce a brand new, standalone feature to feedProcess called vine.

vine is an all in one RSS haven, here you can find all your informational needs. The start page lists the more popular feeds, ones that most people read on a daily basis. To get deeper all you have to do is choose your specific topic from the drop down menu. Each topic has its own sub category that nails down on exactly what you want.

The project is currently in beta, though it is mostly finished I want to take this first week of launch to nail out any final bugs. So if you find any bugs, please let me know by emailing me at feedprocess [at] gmail [dot] com or commenting on this post.

So what are you waiting for? Visit vine now.

Desktop back in business!

A while back, I was having some problems with a few months old XFX 7900GT 256mb. The main problem being a lot of ‘artifacting’ on screen and sometimes just a pure black screen while booting into Windows. I finally got myself to contact XFX to get a replacement card, which went extremely well. Their support system is a ton better than Microsoft’s purely because they work on a web-based ticketing system. You just get a better interaction with your support over this because it keeps track of exactly where you are in the process.

In the end, XFX sent me a brand new 7950GT 512mb. A better card than what I sent in, and for that I am extremely grateful. It shows that there are good companies out there that know how to support their customers.

So if you’re in the market for a new graphics card, head over to XFX!

In other news, my beloved pet snake Babao passed away on Saturday. We’re not sure on the cause of death but we’re speculating it was the water. One of the snakes used it as its public restroom and thus Babao got ill and passed away. On Sunday, my girlfriend and I walked to Golden Gate park here in San Francisco to bury him. I will miss him :(
