BombsAway Public Alpha [Update]

So one of my classes, Multi-User Authoring, entails us to create our own games and develop it into a fully working multi-player game. Now go just before having a multi-player game, add a few bugs and remove a few features, and you get BombsAway Alpha.

This little game which is obviously still in development, is a simple but fun game where you have to shoot falling mines with parachutes. So without further delay, head over to this page to play it. Give it a few minutes to load since I have no included a pre-loader.

Included features:

  • [New] Updated the frame rate to 29 frames per second from 15.
  • Score counter, 500 = Level 2 and 1500 = Level 3
  • Level 2 and 3 introduces speed increases in falling bombs

Planned fixes and features:

  • Fix lag issue after 300+ score, bullet increase decreases performance.
  • Restricted bullets per second/minute
  • Pre-loader and menu
  • Player health decrease when hit by falling bomb(s)

As more features come to me I’ll add them to the game. Please play the Alpha version and let me know if you find bugs!

[Update]: BombsAway can now be downloaded as an Adobe AIR application. Please keep in mind that this is an Alpha Build and I cannot take any responsibility for problems you may encounter installing or running this application.

Going into 2008

As I sit here in front of the computer enjoying my breakfast, I can’t help but think back at what a year 2007 was. Now that we’re finally in 2008 it’s interesting to look back at what you did, planned to do and accomplished and even didn’t get to do. I’m sure many of you created a list of things to do in 2008, new year’s resolutions that you want to accomplish before 2009 strikes us. Although I don’t have a list I do have a few things I want to do, mainly sky diving and to get a scuba diving license. Both my girlfriend and I will be planning this and I really hope we stick to it, we love the ocean.

Many things will happen with my site this year, the first being a total redesign. I was planning on releasing it yesterday (Jan 1st) but it just didn’t work out. I have no idea when I’ll be done with it but hopefully it’ll be complete before the end of January. Along with the update, I will also reveal a few project ideas that I’ll be working on. Some of these will be services and some just plain web apps and ‘tech demos.’

So I ask you this, what do you have planned for 2008? How will you make it more memorable than 2007 and the years before that, what are your new years resolutions? Please do share!
